Background: The career path is a system to improve performance and professionalism, according to the field of
employment by improving the competence and professional development of nurses can distinguish between a job and
a career. So that the performance of professional nurses who can make a positive contribution to the quality of nursing
services and nursing career development. The purpose of this study is to look at the strength of the relationship of age,
educational training, work experience, type of workforce management and motivation motivational and management
with career advancement of nurses inone hospital in Padang, West Sumatra
Method: This type of research is descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. This study was conducted over
six months. The subjects were nurses who worked in the nursery, 75 people. with nursing undergraduate and diploma
nursing III. The collection of data by using question motivation, human resource management, caregiver competence,
as well as patient satisfaction. Characteristics of study subjects determined by education, training, work experience
and age.
Results: The results of analysis showed that age, education, training, work experience of nurses a significant effect on
motivation, management, nursing career. Variable nurse career greatly influenced by motivation, management with a
p-value = 0.000. As well as age, education, training, work experience, motivation and management are highly
correlated to the nursing career. For this type of workforce has no effect on the career of nurses tested together
variables of motivation and management.
Conclusion: Age, education, training, work experience tested together with the motivation and management of human
resources is a very significant effect and is highly correlated with nursing career.
